Brass Turtle returns as lodging

Are you planning a trip to the coast and searching for a place to stay? Even though a few of the hotels in My Coastal World have not been restored and reopened, it is possible to find a special place. It might be a vacation home, fishing cabin, or bed and breakfast but there are many places to explore and MCW will share some of them starting with The Brass Turtle Lodging.

Ingleside on the Bay (IOB) is a small, quiet community along the La Quinta Channel with a view of the Corpus Christi skyline across the bay. In the mid-1980s, area residents and visitors found their way through IOB to visit the Brass Turtle on Bayshore Drive for lunch, dinner, class reunions or other events. By 2005 the familiar building at the point of IOB had been remodeled as a bed and breakfast, known as Our Place on the Bay. But, a small boy, Marshall Davidson from Portland, would always remember the two-story building as the Brass Turtle.

June 9, 2018, Marshall Davidson, with wife Lani, Izaiyah (11), Eden (3) and Emory (14 months) hosted a Meet and Greet complete with BBQ meal for their new IOB neighbors as they announced opening The Brass Turtle Lodging under Lani’s management.

The large parking lot was filled as they served BBQ and visited with their new neighbors.

The Brass Turtle Lodging includes 11 rooms with private baths and a welcoming commons dining/kitchen area. The complete kitchen is available to guests for their use and on some evenings the Davidson family joins them. Guests may even be invited to join the family for Lani’s “Mom prepared meal”.

The Brass Turtle Lodging is more than just a room for the night.

The bluff behind the parking area includes steps, many steps, up to a swing for one of the best views of the IOB sunsets. A private cabin and limited RV sites are also available for rent.

Along the water’s edge is a small private marina and beach protected from ship traffic waves by a breakwater. Guests can launch their fishing boat or kayak and find trout and redfish within minutes. The calmer waters east of the breakwater are perfect for jet skis or paddle boards. If you prefer to sit and watch the shorebirds feed or the boats out on the bay, there are shaded shelters.

As Lani redecorates, she posts her changes on Facebook as Brass Turtle Lodging. Reservations are available on Airbnb or by calling 877-728-8785. Guest reviews are found on both, so check to see what they enjoyed then visit Brass Turtle Lodging, 1233 Bayshore Drive, Ingleside in Ingleside on the Bay.
