The draw of the coast

When we moved to South Texas in 1979, my family was drawn to visit the coast as often as possible. Seeing a dolphin while crossing the Corpus Christi Ship Channel on a ferry, brought shouts of excitement from the children.

In 1998, my husband and I left the inland area to begin a new adventure in the North Bay. Beginning a boating lifestyle meant reading books and magazines and taking classes to learn all that was possible, as quickly as possible. But, we found the people we met offered the best education as they shared experiences and their knowledge.

Living in Aransas Pass for the past 18 years, we have enjoyed going to events in each town in the North Bay. We have our favorite restaurants in each one. Whatever we want to do, we can be there within a 20-minute drive.

As a freelance writer for the Aransas Pass Progress and Ingleside Index, I met people from all parts of San Patricio and Aransas Counties through Chambers of Commerce, civic organizations, city and county government, school activities and in local businesses and industries. Everyone I meet has one thing in common – a unique interesting story.

My Coastal World will:

  • introduce some of the people I know or meet;
  • share the eventsattractions, theaters, opportunities to relish the arts and favorite restaurants of residents and visitors;
  • explore the outdoor recreation possibilities, including fishing opportunities; and
  • feature industries and businesses which power the economic growth of the area.

Enjoy exploring the North Bay communities and contact me if you have a question or suggestion.
