Why celebrate?

As we look behind us at the end of 2018, there were smiles and tears. This poem was written by Joy Beth on December 29, 2017, just four months following Hurricane Harvey. So many lost everything. So many suffered losses. So many were struggling. Each year brings new challenges to all of us…some lose a loved one...some lose a job…some search for a reason to live. So, why celebrate?

The Gifts Before Our Eyes🎁

Christmas is coming; it’s almost here. Most people and places are filled with holiday cheer. Folks bustling around shopping for family and friends. The ever-present gift buying and the playing of “Jingle Bells” never seems to end. Maybe we should all just stop and reflect on the gifts before our eyes. The most beautiful and valuable of any kind of prize.

The birth of a relief camp

With Mermaid’s Kitchen gone but their home still standing, J.P. and Samantha McCrary and their family switched into recovery mode. As a young couple, the McCrary’s came from different religious backgrounds, but they agreed they were to show Christ to others through their actions or simply stated, “show love”.

Hearts of warriors

Each year, beginning in 1999, the National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) is celebrated in May. NMAM honors the active and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those whose lives were lost while serving their country. Throughout the state of Texas, events and ceremonies are held to express support for those who serve now or served previously to protect the United States of America. In Rockport, TX a new retreat opportunity for veterans, active duty military members and their families was launched on May 11, 2018, showing the founders’ appreciation for the military.
