It was 100 years ago on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month the Allies and Germany put into effect an armistice which ended the fighting of World War I. Even though the official end of the war occurred when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, November 11, 1918, was considered the end of “the war to end all wars” and became known as Armistice Day.

Hearts of warriors
Each year, beginning in 1999, the National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) is celebrated in May. NMAM honors the active and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those whose lives were lost while serving their country. Throughout the state of Texas, events and ceremonies are held to express support for those who serve now or served previously to protect the United States of America. In Rockport, TX a new retreat opportunity for veterans, active duty military members and their families was launched on May 11, 2018, showing the founders’ appreciation for the military.
Bringing history to life
Driving over the Harbor Bridge on Hwy 181, the “Blue Ghost” is a constant reminder of the Pacific Theater events of World War II. On Thursday, February 8, the USS Lexington Museum will welcome aboard Don Graves, a US Marine Corps veteran who was one of the thousands of Marines to land on Iwo Jima in 1945.

Saturday, December 16, Wreaths Across America Ceremonies were held throughout all fifty states to - Remember. Honor. Teach. The Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery hosted the local one sponsored by Veterans Band of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Hall of Fame
Hurricane Harvey may have carried away the hanger doors, but members of the Third Coast Squadron will still honor four Coastal Bend veterans during a Hall of Fame Awards ceremony this Saturday, September 23, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Letting troops know we care
Day in and day out, there are men and women deployed in combat zones who open a “care package” from home. Week in and week out volunteers for Coastal Bend Troop Support, Inc, sort items, fill boxes and send these packages from home to let the troops know we care.
